Corrections

How to tell us about a mistake, how we handle it, and a record of the significant corrections we have made.

How to report an error

Email contact@bankebiharitemple.com or use the contact page. Please include the page address, the statement you believe is wrong, and your evidence. For timings, a dated photo of a temple notice or a link to the official announcement is the most useful evidence.

What we correct first

  1. Information that could affect a visitor's safety or journey: timings, closures, access rules and crowd arrangements.
  2. Statements about the temple's administration and legal matters.
  3. Historical and religious content, including the labelling of tradition and history.
  4. Everything else, including spelling and broken links.

How corrections are reviewed

Each report is checked against the sources described in our methodology. If the page is wrong, we correct it, update the page's "last updated" date, and record significant corrections below. We do not change review dates unless a page has actually been reviewed.

Correction log

  1. 2 October 2026. /history

Correction: Clarified the sources for 1864. We had described 1864 as given by "secondary sources" and cited Wikipedia, but Wikipedia is internally inconsistent: its infobox gives 1862 and its text says "around 1864". The 1864 figure otherwise appears on travel websites, and we found no scholarly source for either date.

Reason: Follow-up research for Phase 1.1 found the earlier attribution imprecise.

  2. 2 October 2026. /history

Correction: Construction date changed from "1864" to a transparent account: the temple's official history gives 1862 AD, and some secondary sources give 1864.

Reason: A conflict between sources was identified. The official account had not been consulted.

  3. 2 October 2026. /temple-timings

Correction: Timetable now follows the official published rows (Mandir opens, Shringar Aarti, Bhog, Aarti and closing) and the published summer period of 5 March to 10 November 2026. Unsourced Rajbhog and Shayan aarti minute values were removed. Winter hours are marked as secondary-source pending the official table.

Reason: The previous aarti times and season boundaries were not supported by a primary source.

  4. 2 October 2026. /temple-timings

Correction: Added the reported 2025 extension of darshan hours, and the court proceedings about it, as an unresolved conflict with the official timetable.

Reason: The page did not mention a material development affecting timings.

  5. 2 October 2026. Home page

Correction: Replaced the "open now" status with "today's regular schedule", based on the published timetable.

Reason: The site has no real-time information and should not imply it.

  6. 2 October 2026. /visitor-guide

Correction: Corrected guidance on mobile phones. The temple asks visitors not to carry mobile phones, electronic gadgets, umbrellas or leather items. We had said phones were "generally allowed".

Reason: The guidance contradicted the temple's published rules.

  7. 2 October 2026. /visitor-guide

Correction: Distance to Mathura Junction corrected from about 12 km to about 14 km, and to Delhi airport from about 170 km to about 150 km. The Jewar airport distance was removed and its opening date added.

Reason: The figures did not match the temple's published visitor information.

  8. 2 October 2026. /about-us

Correction: Removed statements that our practical advice came from repeated personal visits, and that a second editor fact-checked every claim.

Reason: Neither statement was true at the time it was published. The site has no first-hand observations yet.

  9. 2 October 2026. /visitor-guide/facilities

Correction: Removed facilities described as likely to exist (shoe counters, first-aid posts, help desks). Added the wheelchair assistance the temple itself describes.

Reason: The facilities had not been verified.

  10. 2 October 2026. Home page

Correction: Map coordinates corrected from 27.5806, 77.7001 (about 1 km east of the temple) to approximately 27.5798, 77.6905.

Reason: The earlier coordinates did not match the temple's location.
